Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Corolla rental home experience:

Get the best rental home value:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is the most expensive season in coastal NC. To find the best rental within your budget, we suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at Currituck restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group.
  • Property management companies typically offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines have deals for local shops and restaurants.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Choose vacation dates and max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Sound Sational OBX: All you need is right here: Awesome views of the sound and W has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available online. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before you book the rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what is best for your vacation group.
  • Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.
  • Looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

More considerations:

  • Get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Make a record of any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if there is a dispute.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on good feedback to propel new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
