- Summer months are the most expensive season in the Currituck area. To get the best value, shift your family's Currituck vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Some property managers offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.

Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
