Strategies to get the very best Currituck rental experience:
When to book a Currituck rental home & When to go:
- In the Currituck area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To find the best vacation home within budget, we suggest booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Currituck attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Some hosts offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Often, property management companies supply Currituck area visitor guides which often include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what is best for your group.
- If your family is bringing pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Get details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a certain Currituck attraction you love, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Some things to know before you go:
- Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
- Upon check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your life at home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on good ratings to propel future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review find their best vacation rental.
