Tricks and tips to get the perfect Corolla vacation home experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Book your Currituck rental in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Many rental management companies supply Currituck area travel guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Start by having your group commit to a vacation week and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Semi-oceanfront Corolla home w\/ pool, hot tub, cabana bar, ocean views & more! has 11 bedrooms and 13 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before you book the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If there's a particular Currituck beach you are crazy about, keep an eye out for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your group is bringing pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Request details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
Additional considerations:
- Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- To make certain no damages are linked to your stay, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. Call the rental manager right away to report any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a wonderful time? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
