Getting the best vacation home experience:
When to go & When to book:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To find the best value, try shifting your vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- The sooner you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Some property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area visitor guides that include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Narrow your Search:
- Select a group leader, select your trip dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. 16 Sunset: Newly Renovated, Saltwater Pool, Hot Tub has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the host before you reserve your home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what configuration is suitable for your group.
- If there's a specific Currituck attraction you love, browse properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property managers charge additional pet fees.
Considerations for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- Upon check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of difficulties.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property one final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a excellent stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
