Our top Currituck rental home tips:

Cost saving strategies:

  • In the Currituck area, The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • Summer months are high season in Corolla. To find the most suitable rental home within budget, we highly recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at Currituck restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • Owners sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Currituck visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have coupons for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Start by selecting trip dates and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Lighthouse Pointe: Soundside home with private pool. PET FRIENDLY! has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Currituck rental home search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking websites. If not, call the host before you book your home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is right for your family.
  • Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.
  • If there's a particular Currituck beach you are crazy about, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .

More considerations:

  • Add the host's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Record any damages to the property at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a terrific time? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
