Vacation rental home tips:
Get the most from your spending budget:
- In the Currituck area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in the Currituck area. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is a good way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area visitors guide magazines which often include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Choosing the best rental home:
- Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and select a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Lighthouse Pointe: Private Pool
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before reserving the home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
More tips for your stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many issues.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Document any damages to the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on great reviews to drive new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
