Tips and Tricks to get the optimal rental home experience:
Finding the best rental home value:
- Summer months are high season in the Currituck area. Reserve your vacation in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Property managers usually offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area travel guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to pick the perfect rental in the Currituck area:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Lighthouse Pointe: Private Pool
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the host before you reserve the home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If there's an individual Currituck beach you are enamored with, keep an eye out for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Request information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
More considerations:
- Add the owner's information to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To make certain that damages aren't linked to your stay, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. Speak to the rental manager immediately to record your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on great reviews to compel future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
