Booking the best rental home experience:
Get the most from your spending budget:
- Summer is the most expensive season in Corolla. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property managers offer special rates for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area travel guides which often include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Start by choosing the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. WhaleSound -Pool\/Pet Friendly\/0.2 mile to Beach has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property manager before booking the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish which bed configuration is right for your trip.
- If there's an individual Currituck beach you simply love, keep an eye out for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
- If your family is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly rental. Get information on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
More tips for your stay:
- Add the owner's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Upon arrival, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would at home.
- At departure, take a walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on great feedback to propel more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
