How to find the best Corolla rental home experience:
When to visit Corolla & When to book:
- Summer is high season in the Currituck area. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area visitor guides which will include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Narrow your Search:
- Begin by choosing vacation dates and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Private beach retreat with deck, pools, hot tub, game room, volleyball & hoops has 7 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property owner before booking the vacation property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
- Visiting for a single event? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Get details on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
Additional considerations:
- Add the owner's contact information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if damages are assessed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many difficulties.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- On check-out day, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a great stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
