Vacation rental home tips and tricks:
When to book a Currituck rental home & When to go:
- To get the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, , and greatly reduced traffic.
- The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies often offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local Currituck area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Make a plan and choose a perfect Currituck rental:
- Choose a group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Oceanside Home In Corolla w\/ Private Pool, Hot Tub & Rec Room has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available online. If they are not listed, email or call the host before reserving the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is best for your vacation family.
- Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
Tips to have a fantastic stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your . Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Upon arrival, document any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a wonderful stay? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
