How to get the best rental home experience:

Sticking to a spending plan:

  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area visitors guide magazines that include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Make a plan and pick yourrental home:

  • Begin by choosing your trip dates and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Oceanside Corolla home w\/ saltwater pool, hot tub, and elevator! has 6 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before you book your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is suitable for your trip.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs could be applied to your contract.
  • If there's an individual Currituck attraction you are crazy about, browse properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental

More considerations for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
  • Upon check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a great stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
