Tricks and tips for getting the best Corolla vacation property experience:
Get the best rental value:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal NC. Book your vacation home in the Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Currituck visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain offers and deals for local shops and restaurants.
Finding the best rental home:
- Choose a group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Walk to Beach, Hot Tub, Resort with Community Pool has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before you reserve your home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a certain Currituck beach you love, browse properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
More considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your stay, make a record of any problem areas during check in. Make contact with the property manager right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on good feedback to propel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
