Our top Rental home tips and tricks:

When to visit Corolla & When to book:

  • In the Currituck area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Some property managers offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Currituck visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides contain discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Make a plan and choose the perfect Currituck rental home:

  • Select your dates and max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Oceanside, Pool Table, Community Pools, Community Amenities, 721, The Blessed One has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before you book the property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Request information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Advice for a smooth stay:

  • Be sure you get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • During check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a excellent vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
