How to get the best Currituck vacation home experience:
When to book a Currituck rental home & When to go:
- Book your rental property in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your family qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies supply Currituck area visitors guides which will include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Narrow your rental Search:
- First and foremost, have your group commit to trip dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family requires. It's About Time: Hot Tub
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If there's a specific Currituck beach you simply love, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or charges applied to your invoice.
Additional considerations:
- Add the owner's contact info to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- At Check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected everything. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a terrific time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
