Tips to get the best vacation home experience:
Get the most from your rental home budget:
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Currituck area. To book the most suitable rental home within budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Currituck restaurants and activities.
- Some property management companies offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Many property management companies supply Currituck area visitor guides which often include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Selecting the best vacation rental:
- Select a group leader, select your dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Isle Of Skye: Great sunset views and outdoor space
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or may be applied to your agreement.
- If there's a particular Currituck destination you long to visit, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
Know before you go:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of difficulties.
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would at home.
- To make sure that damages are not attributed to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. Speak to the host immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be respectful. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- On check-out day, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a wonderful time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
