How to book the best Currituck vacation home experience:
Sticking to your rental home budget:
- Summer is the most expensive season in coastal NC. To find the most suitable vacation home within your budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions.
- In the Currituck area, The sooner your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property managers typically offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Currituck visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines contain coupons for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Choosing the best vacation rental in the Currituck area:
- Start by choosing potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. Heron Cove: Private Pool
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is commonly available online. Otherwise, call the host before you book the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what configuration is right for your trip.
- If there's a certain Currituck destination you simply love, look for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Note any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if there is a dispute.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to stimulate new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
