Currituck rental home tips and tricks:
When to book & When to go:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is a great way to save on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Property managers usually offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Many management companies supply Currituck area travel guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to pick the best rental in the Currituck area:
- Start by choosing potential vacation weeks and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Heron Haven: Golf Course Frontage
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.
- If there's an individual Currituck destination you love, search for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More considerations:
- Store the host's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of problems.
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect your property!
- Upon check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a excellent vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
