How to find the best vacation property experience:

Getting the most from your rental budget:

  • In the Currituck area, The earlier your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • Summer months are high season in the Currituck area. Booking in the Spring or Fall is a great way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Some property management companies offer promotional rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites often offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides contain coupons for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Select a group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Gorgeous pet-friendly oceanside home w\/ pool, hot tub, & elevator! has 6 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property owner before booking the rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what is suitable for your vacation.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking

More considerations for your visit:

  • Add the host's phone number to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few difficulties.
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Upon check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a terrific vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
