Tricks and tips for getting the perfect vacation rental experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Corolla. Book your rental home in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Owners sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area visitors guides that include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Select your vacation dates and budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Gorgeous pet-friendly oceanside home w\/ pool, hot tub, & elevator! has 6 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible online. Otherwise, call the property owner before you book the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the owner's phone number to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Document any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if damages are assessed.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all belongings. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a fantastic stay? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
