Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Currituck vacation property experience:
When to book & When to go:
- The earlier you can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in the Currituck area. Reserve your rental property in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Some hosts offer promotional rates for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Look for your local Currituck visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for local tours and attractions.
Make a plan and choose yourvacation home:
- Begin by choosing your the best vacation week and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Corolla Sunset: Semi-Oceanfront Home Where the Road Ends has 7 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property owner before reserving the home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.
- Does your family require unique amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More considerations for your visit:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of problems.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- At Check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all of your things. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a wonderful stay? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
