Our top Vacation rental tips and tricks:
Cost saving strategies:
- June, July, and August are high season in the Currituck area. Reserve your rental in Fall or Spring months to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites often offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Currituck area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides have offers and deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Planning, picking, and booking your prefectrental:
- Choose dates and maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Carova Beach 4x4 Area - OBX Getaway has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Currituck rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible online. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before you book the home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what is suitable for your vacation family.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
Advice for a fantastic stay:
- Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Document any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if there is a dispute.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to inspire more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
