Tips to get the very best rental experience:

Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • Summer time is high season in the Currituck area. Reserve your Currituck rental in the Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • In the Currituck area, The sooner your group can book, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Property managers usually offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Currituck visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines contain coupons for nearby accommodations and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Choose a designated group leader, select your vacation dates, and select a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Cooper's Retreat: 1200 Ft to Beach Access, Private Pool, Hot Tub has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before you book the property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what configuration is suitable for your vacation.
  • Does your group require specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, hosts charge additional pet fees.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your .
  • To ensure that no damages are linked to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. Call the property manager right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
  • Just before checking out, take a walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a wonderful time? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
