Tips and Tricks to get the perfect rental home experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is high season in the Currituck area. To find the most suitable rental home within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Currituck restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Some property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies often offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides have coupons for nearby accommodations and attractions.

Selecting and booking the perfect Currituck rental home:

  • Select vacation week and max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. C5059 Gorgeous! Short Stays! Pool Heat! Dogs Welcome has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the host before you book the vacation property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is suitable for your family.
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or costs could be applied to your contract.
  • Does your family require unique amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .

More tips for your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
  • To make certain no damages are attributed to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. Speak to the rental manager immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a fantastic stay? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
