Tips for getting the perfect rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Corolla. To find the best value, shift your trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Often, management companies supply Currituck area travel guides which will include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Selecting the best vacation home:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Bare Feet Retreat
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before you book the property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is best for your vacation group.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or may be applied to your invoice.
- Does your family require unique amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
Advice for a wonderful stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
- To make certain no damages are attributed to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. Contact the host immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a great time? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
