Booking the best Currituck rental experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • To get the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Some owners offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Currituck area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides have coupons for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Narrow your Search:

  • Select a group lead, choose your trip dates, and choose a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Whalecome Inn: New Private Saltwater Pool, Currituck Club Amenities has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the host before reserving your home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what configuration is right for your vacation family.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs could be applied to your agreement.
  • Visiting for a single event? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking

More tips for your stay:

  • Add the host's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many problems.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
  • To make sure damages are not attributed to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. Get in touch with the rental manager right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a excellent stay? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
