Getting the best vacation home experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- The sooner you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To get the most suitable rental for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Currituck attractions.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies usually offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby shops and restaurants.
How to select the best vacation home in Corolla:
- Select a group lead, choose your dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Canalfront, water views, wild horses! 4x512, No Bad Days has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email the property management company before reserving your rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More considerations for your visit:
- Get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Record any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if a dispute arises.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on great reviews to stimulate future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
