Tricks and tips for getting the best vacation property experience:
When to book a Currituck rental home & When to go:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Currituck area. To get the best value, shift your family's Currituck vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- In the Currituck area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Currituck visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Planning and picking a perfect Currituck rental home:
- First and foremost, have your group select trip dates and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. 4x512, No Bad Days- Canalfront, water views! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. If not, contact the property management company before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish which bed configuration is best for your vacation.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or costs might be applied to your invoice.
Considerations for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
- To ensure that damages aren't linked to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. Contact the host immediately to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a wonderful stay? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
