How to get the best vacation home experience:
When to go & When to book:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Reserve your Currituck vacation home in Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Many property management companies supply Currituck area visitor guides which often include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning and picking your Currituck rental:
- Choose a group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. OCEANFRONT, Ocean Views,, Community Amenities, Close to Beach Access, 704, Sea Forever has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Currituck rental home search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible online. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before reserving your home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
Have a great stay:
- Get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few difficulties.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Make a record of any damages to the property at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if a dispute arises.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a excellent vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
