Our top Rental home tips:
How to get the best rental home value:
- Summer time is high season in the Currituck area. Reserve your Currituck rental home in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Property management companies sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Currituck visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitor guides contain discounts for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Planning and choosing your prefect Currituck rental:
- Choose vacation week and budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Semi-Oceanfront, Pets Welcome, Wild Horses, Ocean Views! 4x1678, Turtle Trax has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Currituck vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking websites. If not, email or call the host before you book the property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to establish which bed configuration is optimal for your group.
- Does your group require particular amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or charges might be applied to your invoice.
More tips for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
- Upon check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let burglars ruin your vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a wonderful stay? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
