If you have never planned a vacation along North Carolina's charming Outer Banks (OBX), please consider doing so. Equally impressive and satisfying, treat your family and friends to the naturally photogenic stretch of the Outer Banks coastline south of the Virginia-North Carolina border. To paraphrase many of the local lovers of this area North of Corolla (NC), it is where "the asphalt ends and the fun begins!”
Bring your favorite 4x4 equipped car and experience nearly 15 miles of white soft sand beaches, pristinely striking maritime forests, marshy coves and the wild horses of Currituck County. Descendants of Spanish mustangs, these majestic, freedom-loving equines have made this area their home for nearly 500 years.
While there are no paved roads, eateries and stores along this uniquely enchanting nature's heaven, many stores, eateries, gasoline, grocery and hardware stores as well as other amenities are only a short drive to Corolla, Duck and other points south.
Welcome. Or, welcome back!
No smoking, no family pets and lessee must be at least 28 years of age.

Tips and Tricks to get the best Corolla rental home experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is high season in Corolla. To get the best vacation home for your budget, we suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Property management companies often offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Often, property management companies supply Currituck area visitor guides which often include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Filter your search:
- Start by choosing your trip dates and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Oceanfront, secluded, private pool. Accessible only by 4x4 vehicle has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or charges might be applied to your contract.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
More considerations:
- Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of difficulties.
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Document any damages to the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute is filed.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a wonderful time? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
