Tips and Tricks for getting the best rental home experience:
When to book & When to go:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Currituck area. To find the best vacation home within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at Currituck restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Look for your local Currituck area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides have deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Choosing the perfect rental home:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Coastal Comfort
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before you book the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is best for your vacation family.
- If there's a specific Currituck attraction you simply love, browse properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Get information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
Additional considerations:
- Get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- To make certain that no damages are linked to your stay, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. Contact the property manager immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many issues.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
- Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a excellent vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
