The Sounds of Joy is a handsome 7 bedroom home with 5 full bathrooms and a half bath conveniently located on the top level. It is located on a cul-de-sac with vistas of the water and is just steps away from the Currituck Sound. L2 kayaks are available for the enjoyment of our guests.

This home is part of thee Corolla Light Resort! The resort has been voted the top resort on the east coast, offering many amenities. It's only a short walk to the beach, or if you prefer, sit down on a bench outside in the courtyard to be driven to the beach by one of the resort's trolleys (seasonal). The resort offers a Sports and Exercise Center which has indoor clay tennis courts (fee), hand ball, racquet ball, ping pong, enormous indoor lap swimming pool, indoor hot tub, weight rooms, spas and locker rooms. Corolla resort has four oceanside pools and a restaurant that overlooks the pools and ocean, where you can appreciate drinks and great food! This is a fun filled community for people of all ages with tons of activities, located close to the 4x4 beaches where Spanish horses roam complimentary and can be viewed with a 4-wheel drive car. The evening sunsets on the Currituck Sound are amazing, so make sure you take tons of photos and most of all, come and have tons of fun!

Ground Level: Exterior amenities include a private pool, hot tub (mid level deck), park-style charcoal grille, basketball hoop and a carport with 2 outside showers. Entry level with a laundry area with washer and dryer.

Mid Level: Den with a flat-screen TV, wet bar with a sink and mini-refrigerator and an arcade game. King Master Bedroom with flat-screen TV and deck access, Queen Master Bedroom with flat-screen TV and deck access, King Bedroom with flat-screen TV and deck access, Queen Bedroom with flat-screen TV, Queen Bedroom with flat-screen TV, Bedroom with a DuoBunk, flat-screen TV and deck access and 2 full hall bathrooms.

Top Level: Great room with a flat-screen TV, sound bar, wood fireplace and deck access, kitchen with counter seating for 3, dining room seating 12, game table seating 3, wine captain and screened porch access. Half bath and a King Master Bedroom with flat-screen TV and deck access.

Linens and towels supplied at no additional cost. This home will provide sheets for all beds and the beds will be made with the exception of sleep couches, top bunk beds and trundle beds in which case the sheets are included. This home also provides 1 bath towel and 1 wash cloth per person the home sleeps, 2 hand towels per full bathroom, 1 hand towel per half bathroom and a bath mat for each shower or tub.

Sticking to a budget:

  • Reserve your Currituck rental in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.   • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
  • Property managers typically offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides have discounts for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or charges may be applied to your invoice.

Advice for your stay:

  • Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
  • Make a record of any damages to the property at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute is filed.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a fantastic stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
