Rental property booking tips:
Get the best rental home value:
- Summertime is high season in the Currituck area. Book your rental property in Fall or Spring months to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Booking your rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Some owners offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites often offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides have deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
How to choose and book the best Currituck rental:
- Begin by choosing the best vacation week and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. 3-Story Home w\/ Private Pool, Hot Tub, Rec Room, Pool Table, & Unobstructed View has 6 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before you reserve your rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what configuration is best for your family.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
Tips for your stay:
- We recommend storing the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Document any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if a dispute arises.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
- Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a excellent vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
