Strategies to get the perfect vacation rental experience:
Find your perfect rental home:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Currituck area. To find the best value, consider changing your family's Currituck vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- In the Currituck area, The earlier you can book, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines have offers and deals for local tours and attractions.
Choosing the best vacation rental:
- Select your vacation dates and max budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Tons of family entertainment options in the semi-soundfront Corolla home! has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before you book the home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
More tips for your visit:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- To make sure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the rental manager immediately to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your life at home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a terrific vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
