Strategies to get the optimal vacation home experience:
When to book & When to go:
- The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- To get the most suitable rental home for your budget, we recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at Currituck restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local Currituck visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain offers and deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Planning and picking your prefect Currituck vacation home:
- Start by having your group agree to date ranges and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Shell's By The Seashore: New Construction in Golf Community w\/ Private Saltwater has 6 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking websites. If not, contact the property owner before you reserve the rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a property that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property owners charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a certain Currituck beach you love, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
More tips for your stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many difficulties.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
- To make sure that no damages are attributed to your family's visit, record any problem areas when you arrive. Call the rental manager immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a terrific stay? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
