Strategies to get the very best Currituck rental home experience:
When to go & When to book:
- Booking in Fall or Spring months is a great way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes.
- The sooner you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Some property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines contain deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
How to select the perfect vacation home:
- To start, have your family decide on a vacation week and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Serendipity: Private Pool, Hot Tub, Screened Porch has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property owner before reserving the home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out which bed configuration is best for your group.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or applied to your contract.
During your stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Upon arrival, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect your property!
- Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and look for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a fantastic time? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
