Strategies to get the optimal rental home experience:
When to visit & When to reserve a rental home:
- In the Currituck area, The sooner you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- To find the largest vacation home within budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Currituck attractions and restaurants.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, property management companies supply Currituck area visitor guides which will include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Selecting the best vacation home:
- First and foremost, have your group agree to dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Secluded Victorian Beach House in Corolla, NC. has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before reserving the rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
Have a wonderful stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, record any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the property manager right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on great reviews to stimulate new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
