Our top Currituck vacation rental tips:
Getting the best value:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in Corolla. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- In the Currituck area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Many rental management companies supply Currituck area visitors guide magazines that include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Make a plan and pick your prefectrental home:
- Select vacation dates and maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Seas The Day: Private Pool
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property owner before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out which bed configuration is right for your family.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Request information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
More tips for your stay:
- Add the owner's contact info to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Document any damages to the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if a dispute arises.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental while you're out. Protect your property!
- At departure, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a great stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
