Tips and Tricks to get the very best Currituck vacation property experience:
Sticking to your rental budget:
- To get the largest rental home within budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Currituck attractions and restaurants.
- The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Booking websites often offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Currituck visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have coupons for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
How to choose and book a perfectvacation home:
- Choose your vacation week and max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Relax on Island Time has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking websites. If not, call the property owner before you book your home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
- Upon check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to inspire more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
