Strategies for getting the best Corolla vacation property experience:
When to book & When to go:
- In the Currituck area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your rental home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Book your Currituck rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Often, management companies supply Currituck area travel guides which often include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to choose the perfect vacation home in the Currituck area:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Pop's Place: Dog-Friendly
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the host before you reserve the home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or applied to your contract.
- If there's a specific Currituck beach you love, browse homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Additional considerations:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few problems.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- During check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a terrific stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
