Tips for getting the best Currituck rental home experience:
Get the most from your budget:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Booking your Currituck vacation home in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes.
- Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Currituck area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines contain deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Selecting the best vacation home in the Currituck area:
- Select your vacation week and budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Pet-Friendly Oceanside Home w\/ Heated Saltwater Pool & Hot Tub has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before booking the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More considerations for your visit:
- Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of problems.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
- Document any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic source for finding the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected everything. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a fantastic time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
