Getting the best Corolla vacation property experience:

When to book a Currituck rental & When to go:

  • Book your Currituck vacation home in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
  • The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Many property management companies supply Currituck area visitors guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to choose the best rental home in the Currituck area:

  • Choose dates and budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Partial ocean and sound views from this coastal Corolla getaway! has 8 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available online. If not, reach out to the property owner before booking the home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what configuration is optimal for your group.
  • If there's an individual Currituck destination you simply love, search for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

Additional considerations:

  • Add the host's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Document any damages to the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if a dispute is filed.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your life at home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect your property!
  • Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a wonderful vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
