Tips and Tricks to get the best Currituck rental experience:
Finding your perfect rental home:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal NC. To get the best vacation home within your budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local Currituck visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guides have discounts for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Select a group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Par Excellence: Pool, Spa, Game Room, Elevator has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Currituck rental home search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible online. Otherwise, email or call the host before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what configuration is best for your group.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
- If your group is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Request details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
Know before you go:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
- Record any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a excellent vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
