Corolla rental home tips and tricks:
Sticking to your rental home budget:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is the most expensive season in the Currituck area. To get the best value, change your family's Currituck vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Booking websites usually offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area travel guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Narrow your Search:
- Choose your vacation week and spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group needs. Oceanside In Corolla with private pool, hot tub & rec room with pool table has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before booking your rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what is right for your trip.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
- Does your group require unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
Advice for a fantastic stay:
- Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- During check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a great time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
