Tortuga is a handsome, freshly constructed (2023), 6 bedroom oceanside home on the sandy shores of Swan Beach, a remote area of the northern Outer Banks. With so many thoughtful amenities, Tortuga is destined to be your family's new favorite vacation hideaway!
Appreciate long days at the secluded beach, only accessible by 4WD car. Wild horses roam complimentary and can often be seen along the beach and among the dunes. Be sure to keep your distance though; they are wild, and there is an ordinance to remain at least 50 feet from them.
Back at the beach home, take advantage of charming ocean vistas from the wraparound decks, and soak in your own 12.7'x30' private pool or the bubbling hot tub. The pool area is ideally suited for calming and entertaining, with ample chairs, picnic tables and a grille. Pool heat is available for $400/week. There is also an outdoor shower for rinsing off the sand and salt before heading inside for rest and relaxation.
Inside, you'll find attractively furnished living spaces and a modern and functional kitchen with stainless steel appliances and quartz countertops. Ample seating for all meals and watching family viewing of your favorite show or movie. The living and dining areas also feature beautiful vistas of the Atlantic Ocean, and with very little light pollution, the nighttime skies are marvelous! Step out onto the wide ocean-facing decks and savor the serenity.
Tortuga offers 6 bedrooms, including 4 king en suites, one of which has an electric fireplace. In addition to a queen bedroom, there is a bedroom with 2 bunk beds beds, ideal for younger family members. Kids and kids at heart can appreciate the shuffleboard or foosball games located on the ground level. And don’t forget your furry family member, as Tortuga is also pet-friendly!
This home is only accessible with a 4-wheel drive car. All wheel drive cars are not capable of navigating the soft sand and off road beach driving conditions. To find out more about 4x4 access and driving on the beach visit www.visitcurrituck.com/visitor-info/beach-driving-tips
Parking passes are required to park on the beach from April 29th to October 7th.

Tips for getting the perfect Carova rental experience:
Finding your best deal:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in Carova. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- In the Currituck area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area travel guides that include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.

- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on great ratings to stimulate future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
