Strategies to get the best Currituck rental home experience:
Finding your perfect rental home:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is a great way to save on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Some property managers offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Booking websites often offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Currituck visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have deals for local accommodations and attractions.
How to select the perfect vacation rental in the Currituck area:
- Select dates and spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Mellow For Shore-Built in 2023-3.5 Miles off pavement\n4WD required-AIR DOWN!! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before booking the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what configuration is optimal for your family.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Get information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Know before you go:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the host right away to report any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to stimulate more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
