Tips to get the perfect Currituck vacation home experience:
Get the most from your spending budget:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Many property management companies supply Currituck area travel guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning, picking, and booking a perfectvacation home:
- First and foremost, have your group agree to date ranges and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Mellow For Shore-Built in 2023-3.5 Miles off pavement\n4WD required-AIR DOWN!! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before you reserve the rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine which bed configuration is best for your vacation group.
- Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.
- If there's a certain Currituck attraction you are crazy about, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
Tips for a great stay:
- Add the owner's information to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few problems.
- Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
- Record any issues with the property during check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are assessed.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific resource to find the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- At departure, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on good ratings to inspire more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
