How to find the best vacation home experience:
Find your perfect rental home:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in the Currituck area. To find the best value, try shifting your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Many rental management companies supply Currituck area visitor guide magazines that include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to choose and book the perfectrental:
- Select a group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Spacious & Relaxing w\/ Beach Views, Elevator, Spa has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually available online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to find a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
More considerations:
- Get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Make a record of any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if damages are assessed.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on good reviews to drive more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
