Our top Currituck rental home booking tips and tricks:
Finding your perfect rental:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Property managers frequently offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local Currituck area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides have money saving offers on nearby accommodations and attractions.
Planning, selecting, and booking the best Currituck rental:
- Choose vacation dates and budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. 4x4 Required! Pool\/Hot tub Game room PETS WELCOME New windows\/ siding! has 5 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Currituck rental home search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking websites. If not, email the property management company before reserving the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Are you visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To make sure that damages are not linked to your family's stay, record any problem areas during check in. Contact the property manager right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your peace. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your vacation home while you're out. Keep your property safe!
- On check-out day, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and scan for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on great ratings to stimulate future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
