Strategies for getting the best Corolla vacation property experience:
Find your best deal:
- Summer is high season in the Currituck area. To book the best rental for your budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Currituck restaurants and activities.
- The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Booking your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local Currituck visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain discounts for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Narrow your Search:
- Choose vacation week and maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Dog-friendly home w\/ decks, WiFi, private pool, & hot tub - close to the beach has 7 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before you book the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
- If your group is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
Tips for your stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
- Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on good reviews to stimulate more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
