Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Currituck vacation home experience:
When to go & When to book:
- Summer is high season in Corolla. Booking your Currituck vacation home in Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- In the Currituck area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- Owners sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers usually offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local Currituck visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have offers and deals for local tours and attractions.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation dates, and choose a budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Dog-friendly home w\/ decks, WiFi, private pool, & hot tub - close to the beach has 7 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Currituck rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property owner before you reserve the property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
Have a great stay:
- Add the owner's contact information to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Upon arrival, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a wonderful vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
