Tips and Tricks to get the perfect vacation rental experience:

Get the most from your rental budget:

  • In the Currituck area, The sooner you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Booking your rental up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Book your Currituck vacation home in the Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property managers typically offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Look for your local Currituck area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides have money saving offers on nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Begin by selecting potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. C5051 Carotank Clubhouse. Vacation in Historic Corolla Village, Pool\/Hot Tub has 7 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Currituck vacation rental search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before you reserve your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what is optimal for your vacation family.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or could be applied to your agreement.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental

Considerations for your stay:

  • Get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • To make certain damages are not linked to your stay, note any problem areas during arrival. Call the host immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • On check-out day, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a wonderful stay? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
