Strategies for getting the best vacation rental experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Corolla. To get the best value, change your vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer great weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Booking your rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area visitors guides which will include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning and picking a perfectvacation home:
- Select a designated group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. C0472 Sandscape. Panoramic Views, Pool Table, Community Pool, Linens, WiFi has 6 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible online. If they are not listed, email the property owner before reserving your home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what is right for your group.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or costs may be applied to your agreement.
Advice for a fantastic stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
- Make a record of any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of problems.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on good reviews to stimulate future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
