Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Currituck vacation property experience:
Find your perfect rental:
- The earlier your group can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- June, July, and August are high season in the Currituck area. To book the best vacation home within budget, we suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at Currituck restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Currituck visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides contain offers and deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Start by selecting your a vacation week and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. And Breathe: Pool\/Hot Tub, Rec Room, Putting Green has 7 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is almost always available online. Otherwise, contact the property owner before you book the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or applied to your contract.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Have a fantastic stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- To make certain no damages are linked to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the property manager immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- On check-out day, complete a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a wonderful time? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
