Our top Corolla rental property booking tips:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To get the most suitable vacation home within your budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Some hosts offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers often offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides have money saving offers on nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Choosing the best vacation rental:

  • Start by having your group decide on the best dates and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. 5 BR OBX Beach House in Corolla, NC - 8 Minute Walk to the Beach & Pet Friendly has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Currituck vacation rental search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible online. Otherwise, email the property owner before you reserve the home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is suitable for your group.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.

More considerations:

  • Get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of concerns.
  • Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect your property!
  • To ensure that no damages are attributed to your visit, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. message the rental manager immediately to record your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to drive future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
