Our top Currituck vacation rental booking tips:
When to book & When to go:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Corolla. Reserve your Currituck vacation home in Fall or Spring months to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Look for your local Currituck visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides have offers and deals for local shops and restaurants.
Make a plan and pick yourrental:
- To start, have your family choose dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. WILD HORSES! Secluded, 4-wheel drive, family get-away, 4x2190, Just Beachy has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before booking the vacation home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
Have a great stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few difficulties.
- Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- At Check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- At departure, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a excellent vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
